My Passion

Dr. Cheryl shares, “My mission and passion are to bring solutions! My faith and family drive me. Faith to be what God has called and purposed me to be, my family, and those God has given to our care.”

Dr. Cheryl is married to Pastor Terry Swanigan, this year they will be celebrating 40 years of marriage! She is the proud mother of four beautiful daughters Melissa, Terry, Raechel, and Frances. The grandmother of five outstanding grandchildren, Evan, Terry Lynne, Ka’Ron, Adam, and Emma. Spending time with her family is one of her greatest joys.

My Community

Dr. Cheryl has a passion for giving back to her community. Pastor Cheryl shares that she is driven to do what she does because it is who she is!

Dr. Cheryl served her community through advocating and counseling at Washtenaw County SOS centers, the American Red Cross, United Way of Washtenaw County, Previous board member, Dress for Success Michigan, Patient Advocate at Packard Health Clinic, Presenter at University of Michigan “Workplace of the 90s” expo, and served as a committee member of the University of Michigan’s Women/People of Color Taskforce. She has partnered and facilitated youth programs for the Ann Arbor Police Department, Bryant Community Center, and she founded GLAAM Girls, Inc., a leadership empowerment, mentorship non-profit organization for girls ages 8 – 13.

Dr. Cheryl and her husband, Pastor Terry Swanigan, are the campus pastors of our newest location, Embassy Ann Arbor. Before planting their ministry in Ann Arbor, both Dr. Cheryl and Pastor Terry served as presbyters and senior leaders of Embassy Covenant Church International. Their contributions are still seen today. 

Dr. Cheryl also serves as the Director of Worldwide Intercession for Jabula New Life Ministries. She has served in this capacity for over eighteen years. With vision from God and Jabula’s Board of Bishops, Dr. Cheryl established the Jabula Global Prayer Network. Dr. Cheryl now serves as an executive board member for Jabula New Life Ministries.

My Industry

Dr. Cheryl is multi-faceted in that she functions as both an intrapreneur and an entrepreneur. “I am drawn to create pathways where there are none, infrastructures for forward movement and efficiencies, and vision for clear direction and realized success.”

She is one of the principal owners of Amplified Communications and Marketing Agency and is a Solutions Implementation leader for Michigan’s largest healthcare insurer.

Dr. Cheryl is also the Dean of Students at Learn Online University; an online school is for self-paced learning from industry experts and educators. She has a broad understanding of leadership and management in both for-profit and non-profit organizations, and possesses a strong understanding of faith-based organizational dynamics.

“Seeing the disparity in good leadership and management practices in both private and public sectors of business inspired me to pursue and earned a doctorate in Business Management and Organizational Leadership, (University of Phoenix, Phoenix, AZ in 2016).”  Dr. Cheryl’s interest in looking for ways to help organizations create infrastructures that encourage growth, innovation, and full use of all human resources across the organization continues to fuel her work and education today.

She also holds a Master of Business Administration, Bachelor of Science, Business Management degrees, and theological certifications.
